We are pleased to share that a building that has stood empty for 20 years has been given a new lease of life. Following a sale to a new owner in late 2024, the property has been completely modernised to ensure that this prominent site on the popular Belgrave Road no-longer stands empty. Grand unveiling of KSSB new shopfront, showcasing Leicester’s Victorian past and rich architectural heritage

Kal Sangra, Shonki Brothers (KSSB) prominent City Centre office situated at 85 Granby Street has been one of the sites involved in a year-long revamp and renovation programme as part of Historic England’s High Street Heritage Action Zones.

Led by Leicester City Council the purpose of the project has been to revitalise the street-facing ground floor of the Grade II-listed Grand Hotel as well as neighbouring shopfronts. With a view to honour Leicester's Victorian past and the City's rich architectural heritage.

The face of Granby Street has changed dramatically over the past few years. Offering a new inviting experience to those walking from Leicester Train Station towards the clock tower.

Kal Sangra, Director said:

“Here at KSSB we welcomed the project and its need for local investment, we jumped at the chance to work with various parties and contribute to the programme and wider vision.

Without ongoing heritage-led investment, shopping environments such as Granby Street would not improve.”

The success of this regeneration is visible in the shopfronts that line this block of Granby Street, the ground level shopfronts have been restored to as close to the building’s original design as possible.

Design features and new signage complement the architectural heritage of the building.

City Mayor Peter Soulsby said:

“It is important that we continue to invest in these sorts of ambitious improvement schemes, working with property owners and businesses to improve shopfronts, preserve the architectural heritage of our historic buildings, and help ensure our shopping streets continue to be welcoming and attractive places to visit and enjoy.

“We have seen how this approach can be a catalyst to transform areas like the Old Town and help attract millions of pounds of private investment into the city centre.”

Louise Brennan, Historic England Regional Director (Midlands) said:

“The restoration and public realm works are a triumph for this part of Leicester, giving new life to a Victorian icon of the city.”

A charity golf day hosted by Digital Office Group raises £13,000 for three charities: Hope Against Cancer, Island Project and Canine Partners.

“The energy the organisers bought to the event was fantastic, when Jack (McPhillips) asked me to attend to help the event I didn’t hesitate in saying yes. 90 golfers attended the day, a great range of prizes were on offer and the weather was on side. The overall figure raised will be instrumental to these three charities, who support the lives of so many people.”

The Golf Day and Charity Auction on the 26 ^th September 2024 at Rothley Park Golf Club in Leicestershire. The organisers acquired a fantastic range of auction prizes including a Stuart Broad signed England Shirt, various holidays and portrait painting.

Kal Sangra, FRICS, NAVA was invited to host the charity auction for another year at Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland annual golf tournament at Lingdale Golf Club in Woodhouse Eaves, Loughborough.

24 teams took part in the Golf Tournament competing for the coveted charity shield and other prizes. Teams, who were made up of local businesses, also enjoyed an meal and the opportunity to network. Attendees then helped raise vital funds by participating in a fundraising auction conducting by Kal Sangra.

Kal, Charity Auctioneer said:

“For a few years now Tony Donovan, Executive Director at Age UK has invited me to conduct the auction. I am always impressed by the enthusiasm attendees bring to the evening auction, especially after a full day on the golf course.

The Age UK team host a fantastic event year on year. They secure a great range of luxury prizes for the evening. Which makes my job as auctioneer easy. It was positive to see how many local Leicester companies donated to this vital service.”

Speaking about the Auction Nikky Miles, Corporate Fundraiser at Age UK said:

The Golf Tournament was attended by 23 teams, made up of local businesses who enjoyed a round of golf on the course competing for the coveted charity shield and other prizes.

It was a full day event with teams continuing the evening by raising vital funds participating in our prize bingo, raffle and an auction, conducted by Kal Sangra, who auctioned off a range of fantastic prizes.

Local Leicestershire Agent, Kal Sangra Shonki Brothers receives ‘Highly Commended’ in the category the ‘Residential Auction Service of the Year’ at the National Negotiator Residential Agency Sector Awards.

It is fantastic that a local Leicestershire Agent has received the recognition on a national platform of contenders. Charity Golf 2021

Kal Sangra, FRICS, NAVA was pleased to have been invited by Age UK Leicestershire and Rutland to conduct the auction at their charity golf tournament.

All money raised from the tournament will be used to help meet the cost of the Charity’s COVID Emergency Response Service, which supports the many older people impacted by the pandemic. The charity provides a range of services and support to promote the wellbeing of older people, their carers and families across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

This particular event marked the 21st Annual Charity Golf Tournament. All those involved were delighted that £11,448 was raised in total during the event.
