The Negotiator Awards - November 2021

KAL SANGRA, SHONKI BROTHERS RECEIVES RECOGNITION ON A NATIONAL PLATFROM FOR ITS AUCTION SERVICES

Local Leicestershire Agent, Kal Sangra Shonki Brothers receives ‘Highly Commended’ in the category the ‘Residential Auction Service of the Year’ at the National Negotiator Residential Agency Sector Awards.

It is fantastic that a local Leicestershire Agent has received the recognition on a national platform of contenders. Kal Sangra has a wealth of experience not only in Auctions, the estate agency also offers an extensive range of property services. With an aim of providing all clients’ property needs under one roof.

‘Residential Auction Service of the Year’

Kal became a member of the former Incorporated Society of Valuers and Auctioneers (ISVA) in 1986 and a dual member of ISVA and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 1990. In 1991 he became a Chartered Surveyor and sat on the ISVA auctioneering committee for 2 years before the merger of the two organisations. After winning a national auctioneering competition in 1992, Kal set up the auction department and has since been conducting 5-7 auction sales a year.

Within Leicester and Leicestershire, the auctions held by Kal have remained top of the leader board for revenue raised for the last 30 years*. This data shows that the traditional regional auction houses can deliver and offer an outstanding, knowledgeable, localised and personal service

Kal attributes this achievement to having a superb team on site. The company has grown in recent years from a strong team of 4 to a stronger team of 10.

The team are committed to the company’s promise to clients - Your Property Matters

Kal Sangra, in response to receiving this prestigious recognition said:

“It is a fantastic achievement for the team and I to receive this award. Personally I have been auctioneering since the 90’s and for me, every sale is different to the last, the buzz never dwindles. Standing at the rostrum with a catalogue of exciting lots never gets old.

Pre-pandemic we held 5-6 property auctions a year and had up to 300 people in attendance. During the challenges the pandemic we swiftly adapted to offering an online auction service, we have conducted 7 online auctions this year. Online auction enabled us to continue to showcase a competitive portfolio of lots, drawing bidders online and recreating the electric buzz of the bidding momentum over the internet.

We were encouraged by the lockdown campaigns to ‘Buy local’ and to “Help small business get through this”. On the ground it is apparent that the market is increasingly becoming more saturated with local and national online auction houses. However, our track record, expertise and confidence in our brand and the service we provide ultimately assuring our clients old and new that we offer a service second to none.”

He continued, “Our team has wide ranging local knowledge and expertise derived from a combined 100+ years of experience. This enables our company to provide clients with sound professional advice and a superb customer experience.

My experience within Leicester and the community over the years has led to not only conducting property auctions but also a large number of charity auctions. It is an honour working with local board members, community champions and families to raise awareness and help generate funds for their causes. It is a privilege to know that something I enjoy, standing at a rostrum waving around a gavel, can generate a wealth of support for the voluntary sector.”
